Why Do You Do It?

Where is your gain, Robin Good?

If you consider yourself to be an Internet activist, a person that wants to communicate, learn and bring about change by effectively using new media technologies, I can safely guide you to reach your objectives in an effective, ethical and powerful way.

My mission is helping each one of you achieve your personal, unique, online communication goal.

I want, in good substance, to empower those Good communicators that like you have a "voice" that needs to be heard.

There are many people together with me that need to hear more of your voice and of what you see, hear and discover before us. We are all unique MasterMind Explorers and we have a duty to report to our fellow brothers and sisters what our discoveries are.

As some of you out there have shown to be very Good at this, I thought of sharing and providing you with “rocket missiles” and “anti-gravity propulsion mechanisms” that I had sitting in my closet. ;-)

If we are working toward some common objective, it's about time I hand over some of my tools and best know-how to those I value to be my best complements and allies.

I am glad to offer my service to those of you who are eager and brave and who seriously want to bring about positive change, better understanding and innovation.

I facilitate networking among people interested in creating such change.

Some real world examples of the type of "issues" or projects you may want to take on, as a Communication Agent may indeed not be as far fetched as you may have thought.

While this is clearly an initiative that has a lot of "heart", I am not able to do this without having to incur myself in the infinite pay-the-bill loop.

So, what I have been successful at designing, is to at least find a way where the proposition was as much as possible mutually beneficial to both parties.

What I have been able to build and make available to you strikes one of those all-time win-win shots that could both help me sustain a little more humanly my inarrestable contribution while giving a great boost to all those that effectively wanted to leverage the Internet and their effective communication skills for some "common good".

Where is my gain?

My gain is in the knowledge…..

My gain is knowing I am doing the best I can, to augment the opportunity for this interconnected network of intelligent minds to bring about dear, deep change and evolution to humanity on this planet. This is my only hope and reward. To see you cranking out all of your best ideas and thoughts finally unrestricted by technology burdens, delays, having to delegate and having to put with tools that make life miserable instead of a joy.

I am here waiting to read your email, your thoughts and whatever else you may want to say about this crazy Sunday morning offer.

..And if you are also interested in becoming one effective Communication Agent, just drop me a line through the comments link here below.

My greatest gain is in the fact that I get to keep on doing what I really can do best: realizing my life mission of helping others change through effective communication.

My aspiration is in seeing so many of you moving along in this fascinating, powerful and far-reaching networked communication and sharing process.

My invitation remains one, strong and clear:

Stop surfing, Start Making Waves!

Hello,

I was immediately taken in by the newmediaexplorer.org website one day while researching health issues for my father over the internet. I made it my personal home page so that I would have it on my screen daily as a good reminder of what is and what could be...

It is a rarity to get information such as these. I am an American with Asian origin who has spent a decade of my adult life studying and working in Paris, France. I am an architect. I mention this because I feel that this combination of facts greatly influences(expresses) my vision.

I began my studies in Los Angeles, and finished them in Paris. I currently work for a firm in S. California, preparing for my State board examination for a license to practice architecture.

I believe that in this career, I may provoke change and influence soul satisfying change for many - all the while building/supporting a capitalistic business. I struggle (as do my colleagues) with the daily opportunities to contribute our efforts and knowledge to doing "good", as well as creating and producing and making money.

I am also the mother of two small children, a 5 and 9 year old. This too, influences greatly my goals. I juggle constantly. My father was an architect. He was, in my opinion, a genius. Growing up, my dad's actions and ideas always inspired me. He painted and played music, he was also a captive story teller and our leader. His actions as a father fully promoted his vision that we are to serve and to honor our fellow men with thoughtful design. But I learned as I grew up that his hands were tied when it came to his work although he made beautiful houses for wealthy people. My Dad spent most of his time with his wife and four children enjoying home and family life. For some reason he lost out in the money-making scheme of things. When he died last year, although he has many who love him, he had few material possessions. For one so rich in spirit he had the least materials in his possession.

At this point in my life I see that personal satisfaction and fulfilment may be achieved at many different levels...not only from a personal standpoint. We, as architects, seem to consciously convince ourselves that the "system" does not allow for us to survive if we use our knowledge for the good of most. Most of us become technocrats and do little to instill change as we fold to the demands of developers and marketing studies. We become too involved in the aesthetic, the technicalities, the logistics, and even the glory of doing a project of such scale and proportion... we loose sight of our original purpose. I aspire to do as my father, to honor his hard work and dedication to us, his family. I also wish to continue to take the next step in our contribution to our community. I stand upon the experience of my father, he has built the foundation and he left us to continue in our own unique and personal way.

How do I meet others that think as I do AND practice "good deeds" as they continue to prosper? I have great conversations with fellow designers and architects but then we return to our positions and do NOT apply our values to our work... Time is of the essence. Time is spelled L O V E.

I work on significant projects which influence the form and function of small cities in southern Calfornia. I research city codes and requirements and make design proposals with the support of client-developers. One day I shall be the principal owner and architect with all the responsibilities and overhead that this entails. I will use technology and knowledge to be as small a firm as possible while seeking strong partnerships/collaborators to create and to produce projects that I wish to be proud of...and for my children to be proud of.

Is this a silly ideal ? I feel inspired by this website, Could this be a step in the right direction ?

Dear Luigi,

this is Thomas Kirschner again - I had written you yesterday already. I have a few more questions:
This Communication Agent training - is is still being offered? Could I apply? And could you tell me in straight words what it costs? I couldn't make sense of what I read on your site: At one point you are saying that the whole thing is for free, at some other point I saw a concrete figure, like 1300 Euros or something. So, what's the cost? I'd be interested.

Best regards,

Thomas Kirschner, Nexus Magazin
