I am a change agent using communication tools and skills as my weapons.
I am Robin Good aka Luigi Canali De Rossi. I am a communication skills expert and a pioneer in exploring and adopting new ways of integrating new media technologies into communication and learning activities.
I am a graduate of an experimental and interdisciplinary program offered by San Francisco State University which allowed for the personalized design of a major synergizing the different communication arts, from broadcasting to theater, music, film, dance.
My initial pro work has been in the area of documentary film-making. Right after that I worked for at the time breakthrough post-production houses specializing in providing the first signs of intelligent application of digital effects technology to television programming.
I went then to work for VideoTime, Berlusconi's owned production company feeding the programming of his three nationwide TV networks (Canale 5, Italia 1 and Retequattro). With the title of Online Promotion Producer I was indeed in charge of designing and executing, through active collaboration with many mini-teams, all of the online station breaks and network identity protions that were aired by Canale 5.
That job required all kinds of complementary skills or the ability to coordinate other talent to realize it. Searching and selectign quality scenes, editing clips, adding custom sound and music effects, copywriting the break, adding special effects and titling, cutting and trimming for precision, time and sync with the music.
I learned more about television, editing, scoring for video, using advanced technology and working in teams professionals in there than in any other course or university I had been before.
I have had also an extended professional experience in the world of radio broadcasting. As I was involved from the very early days in 1975 with the emergence of free private commercial radio stations in Italy, I became an early contributor and professional in that newly born industry.
I have long worked as a DJ, which I had been doing without the additional use of my voice since the age of 13-14. At that time (1970), there was a very limited number of private DJs that would setup a party for dancing with psychedelic lights and other visual effects. The idea had come from London all the way through Milan and to Rome and I was lucky enough to be doing a vastly enjoyable work at making people dance and enjoy themselves in some of the most beautiful parties I have ever been to.
While working in the private radio industry (1976-1979) I then worked as a Music and Program Director for two of the major stations broadcasting at that time in Rome. As a station director for M100 (1986) I facilitated a complete change of format that led the station to achieve top 3 ratings in the local monitoring stats.
In the mid-80s I have designed and executed several memorabke opening titles for popular TV shows. Among them the set realized twice for the program Tribuna Politica remains a memorable experience of great design (Piero Gratton designed the first, and me with Roberto Ferranti conceived the second in full 3D and Piero storyboarded it marvelously) and use of cutting edge technology (with the formidable help of Guido Vanzetti, the late Italian computer graphics pioneer).
I directed and executed also a few video clips that were completely based on lots of virtuoso music and video editing work.
I then went on to work for Italy's state television channel RAI, as Information Designer for the Channel 2 (TG2) News. While there, for just one year, I studied the information design approaches of all major news television and created an extensive research in the possible different approaches and styles to most effectively deliver multiple information items simultaneously.
Since 1989 I have long worked with major international organizations to provide support and design of key communication and publishing projects with new technologies since 1989. My major clients are the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the World Food Program (WFP), the World Bank, UNEP, IFAD, the Arab Planning Institute and many other international organizations operating in the fields of development, research and education.

I am an experienced trainer and workshop facilitator and have conducted hundreds of training courses for officers of the UN in how to create effective presentations, how to design information for effective communication and how to edit and prepare digital images for presentation, printing and online use.
For this audience I maintain a presentation skills oriented monthly newsletter and Web site entitled MasterView International.
I have collaborated and partnered with the World Bank Institute and with several international institutions like the
Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok, Thailand),
the Asian Institute of Management (Manila, Philippines),
Singapore Polytechnic (Singapore), University of Surabaya (Indonesia),
University Science Malaysia (Penang, Malaysia),
American University of Cairo (Egypt) to bring advanced showcases of how new media technologies can be effectively used for learning, training and marketing.
I am a self-taught Instructional Designer and have recently designed several courses and training programs of different kinds. I have to research and study the best strategies to deliver the training as well as technologies to support such processes.
